Annual Meeting for Liaison Officers - 2026
The implementation rate continued to improve year-on-year according to the latest statistics compiled by the Implementation Directorate within the Office of the Prime Minister.
The rate of implementation for the budget 2023 is that of 81 %. This was the highest rate ever achieved since 2014. Next year the Implementation Directorate will mark 10 years since its establishment and since it started to monitor and follow the Budget measures and their implementation. This year's result is both encouraging and shows that the system in place is operating successfully.
The monitoring exercise of this year presents a total of 311 measures which were successfully implemented. This figure includes measures from the 2023 budget as well as other measures from past budgets.
Among various measures implemented these include the refurbishment and opening of sports facilities, including a new Olympic swimming pool in Bormla as well as the organisation in Malta of the Games for Small European Countries. Other measures dealt with investments in disciplined corps, infrastructure, education and the elderly, as well as renovations of Health Centres and further investment in free medicines, including assistance to first-child couples.
The work carried out by the Public Service is not by chance but as a result of coordination between the Implementation Directorate and various departments, bodies and ministries.
The publication “Implementation of the 2023 Budget" contains a list of all measures announced in the 2023 budget, where on each measure there is reporting of its status. In addition, the publication provides an analysis of the economic performance and reporting on social elements in the budgets of recent years.
