Annual Meeting for Liaison Officers - 2026

Date13.03.2026
Time5 minutes

On Friday, 13 March 2026, the Governance Action Directorate (GAD) held its annual meeting for Liaison Officers from ministries across the Public Administration at the Aula Magna, University of Malta, Valletta. The event brought together officers who play a key role in coordinating with the GAD on Ombudsman cases and on the implementation of recommendations issued by the National Audit Office (NAO).

The seminar opened with an address by the Director General (Coordination and Implementation), who outlined the functions of the GAD and highlighted the essential contribution of Liaison Officers in ensuring effective communication, timely case resolution, and strengthened governance across ministries. The Director, Governance Action, subsequently provided an overview of the forthcoming developments in NAO reporting process, emphasising  the critical responsibility of Liaison Officers to report accurately and promptly to support effective follow‑up.

Participants also attended a presentation on good and effective reporting, aimed at improving the clarity and consistency of submissions made through the Governance Action reporting system. The seminar included an intervention by Mr Mario Bartolo from the Internal Audit and Investigations Department (IAID), who outlined the Department’s role in promoting sound financial management and explained how IAID collaborates with the GAD in monitoring progress on complex NAO‑related matters.

The meeting served as an important platform for dialogue, collaboration, and the sharing of best practices, reaffirming the Public Administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
