Annual Meeting for Liaison Officers - 2026
In the presence of the Minister for Finance, Clyde Caruana, the Head of Public Administration, Tony Sultana, launched the publication "It-Twettiq tal-Baġit 2025," where he announced that the budget implementation rate for 2025 was 86%.
This figure has increased by 2% from last year and continues to give confidence in the implementation of the budget for the coming year as we are just a few days away from the announcement of the budget for 2026.
Mr. Sultana further explained how this year's budget presented 326 measures, of which 62% were social measures, 20% environmental, and 18% economic.
He said that the good results in implementation are the result of the work of all departments, directorates, and entities, coordinated by the Office of the Prime Minister.
The Division for Coordination and Implementation in the Office of the Prime Minister scientifically monitors budgetary measures, delivers reports, and assists in implementation.
This structure has been further strengthened with the introduction of a new monitoring and reporting system so that implementation challenges are being addressed more promptly.
The publication "It-Twettiq tal-Baġit 2025" contains a list of all the measures announced in the 2025 budget, and for each measure, there is a report on its status.
In addition, the publication provides an analysis of the economic performance and reporting on the work done behind the scenes to align the measures with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
The publication "Budget Implementation 2025," issued by the Office of the Principal Permanent Secretary, can be read here.
Also present were the Director General (Coordination and Implementation), Mr. Oreste Cassar, as well as the Director (Project Implementation), Mr. Aaron Abdilla.
